Fire marshal to determine cause of Friday fire in W-B Twp.

A state police fire marshal will investigate the cause of a fire that damaged an apartment building in Wilkes-Barre Township on Friday night, according to township Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Halecki. No one was hurt in the fire at 533 Church St. but the residents of the building's three apartments were displaced, he said.

Seven people are out of their home after a fire at an apartment on Wyoming Avenue on Monday night. Borough fire engineer Drew Malvizzi said crews responded to the fire in a second-floor apartment around 10:40 p.m. Monday.

Misericordia University Nursing Department recently held a pinning ceremony in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall to honor undergraduate nursing students in the traditional Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing program and the RN to BSN Expressway Accelerated Degree Program who graduated May 21 at the 90th annual commencement ceremony. Undergraduate nursing students who completed the program received the Misericordia University Nursing Pin, a symbol of achievement in the nursing profession.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued citations against U.S. GreenFiber LLC, Passan Drive, Laflin on April 28, the U.S. Department of Labor announced in a press release on Wednesday. According to OSHA, a complaint inspection determined the insulation manufacturer failed to protect employees from deflagration, fire and spark hazards by ensuring dust-handling equipment had explosion protection systems such as deflagration venting, automatic suppression and fire/detection systems.
